C-Street is showing its red, white, and blue as Historic Commercial Street gets ready for a milestone celebration. The City of Springfield has installed patriotic banners throughout the district, joining C-Street’s own decorations as preparations continue for the Red, White & Bridge Bash on May 1 and 2.
The celebration will bring classic cars, food, music, and more to Commercial Street while recognizing three major milestones: America’s 250th anniversary, the 100th anniversary of Route 66, and the rehabilitation of the historic Jefferson Avenue Footbridge, which is expected to reopen later this year.
The City of Springfield has also been busy cleaning and preparing the district ahead of the festivities, giving C-Street a fresh look for spring and the celebrations ahead.
And there is something new to discover while you’re here. One More Page has opened its doors on Commercial Street, adding a new bookstore to C-Street’s growing collection of locally owned shops and destinations.
